In our language/social studies block(s), we've been reading and writing about the issues of homelessness, food waste and poverty, both locally and on a more global scale. Our discussions have been lively and heartfelt. Some of our pre-conceived ideas about the people who struggle with these issues as a real part of their daily life, have been challenged, and our understanding has broadened. And while we don't all agree about everything, the one thing we do all agree about, is that these issues need our attention. Every person should have an equal opportunity to have the basics - healthy food, clean water, clothing, and shelter. These are some of the images that started our discussions...
