October's character trait was co-operation - here are just some of the stellar students who received their awards at the ABC assembly. Notice the sea of orange and black...it was our Spirit Day as well. What a great morning of celebrating super kids and great leadership of character. Awesome job, West Bayfield!

October was busy with work on the Grade Six Pod project - the Power Hour Puzzle. We really wanted to unite the entire grade six class, and so we organized a collaborative art project between the three classes, which focused on character and inclusion. Students were asked to choose their one power word to describe themselves, and a power colour. After sanding their wood puzzle piece, pieces were painted with acrylics, power word letters were cut out of magazines and glued down, a layer of modge-podge was put over each piece, the entire puzzle was reassembled and a final coat of laquer was applied. Each puzzle measures 1.2m x 2.4m. They turned out fantastic! Installation in the grade six wing is coming soon...oh, and since it was October, who doesn't love a hand-painted turkey? And yes, that is Terry, always running. He inspires us!
